The group continues further into Lamashtu’s secret temple and start to hear chanting coming from below. As they continue down the passage the chanting gets louder and louder and they start to see a glow. They arrive in a large chamber where Gnarlpaw is leading some kind of ceremony. There are a dozen or so gnoll priests and human faithful to Lamashtu as well as another pair of ogres in the chamber and a human laying on the alter in front of Gnarlpaw. Sahlira and Duran sneak into the room but Duran is spotted by one of the ogres. With surprise lost, the group moves into the chamber to engage the Lamashtu worshipers. Fiora casts Black Tentacles into the room trapping 4 of the human worshipers. The gnoll priests and Ogres hang back in the room defending Gnarlpaw while the 4 worshipers on the upper level of the room moves to engage the group.
From the back of the room Gnarlpaw casts Confusion on the group and catches Fiora, Duran and Kahn in the spell. Sahlira is able to handle the worshipers on her side of the room and Duran is able to take the ones on his side out, even while under the effects of the Confusion spell. Kahn turns on Shurooq with a full attack but she is able to avoid being hit by Kahn’s wild swings. Shurooq manifests her Fire Wings and launches into the air to escape the confused Kahn. Fiora spends most of the fight stabbing herself with her arrows instead of shooting them into the enemies. Gnarlpaw tries to blind, the now flying Shurooq who attempts to blind Gnarlpaw in turn but Lamashtu ends up turning her spell against her and Shurooq ends up being blinded and out for the rest of the fight. Things are not looking good for our heroes.
Sahlira moves into the room to finish off the lone survivor of the Black Tentacles spell and Kahn snaps out of the confusion long enough to engage one of the ogres and two of the gnoll priests. Duran is able to shrug off the Confusion spell and moves into position to engage the other ogre. Fiora comes out of the Confusion spell to fire some of her bloodied arrows at Gnarlpaw but with his tower shield, Gnarlpaw is proving to be a difficult target to hit. Kahn is able to maintain his grasp on his mind long enough to take out the ogre and two of the priests but Gnarlpaw removes him from the rest of the fight with a Hold Person spell. Duran leaps off the upper level and delivers a wicked hit on the other ogre and Sahlira moves in to assist her brother with it and the other two gnoll priests. Gnarlpaw finally moves in to engage Sahlira and Duran and Sahlira ends up being knocked down by a couple of critical hits from Gnarlpaw. Gnarlpaw moves to engage Duran figuring that Sahlira is out of the fight. From the ground, Sahlira is able to take out one of the gnoll priests and is able to stand up. Duran is able to take out the other priest and the ogre leaving Gnarlpaw alone. Sahlira moves in to help Duran with Gnarlpaw but ends up taking another hit and falls to the floor unconscious. Duran is able to knock Gnarlpaw’s tower shield from his grasp, making him much easier to hit. Gnarlpaw’s confusion spell finally ends and Fiora finishes him off with a critical shot with her first two arrows. The groups frees Ezler and gathers their spoils and leaves Lamashtu’s temple. They head over to Sarenrae’s temple to get Shurooq’s blindness cured and then proceed to return Ezler to his teammates. They then head back to their respective lodgings to get a much needed rest.
The next morning, Kahn receives a visit from his patron Badra. She tells him that she has some business to discuss with him and his companions. He promises to gather them and meet her at her place of business. Duran and Sahlira arrive at Rayhan’s and the group heads out to meet with Badra. On the way to their meeting, a merchant and his bodyguards stop the group in the street with an offer for a powerful item that he believes the group possesses. The merchant, Tamir, leaves the group, apologizing for bothering them but doesn’t seem to quite believe that they aren’t the group that he is looking for. They head to Badra’s to find that the business that she wants to discuss is the purchase of the Scroll of Kakishon. The group asks her whey she believes they have the Scroll and she tells them that word as reached her thru her normal contacts. Apparently word of the Scroll of Kakishon arriving in Katapesh is now known, at least by the merchant community. As they leave Badra’s, letting her know that they aren’t looking to sell the Scroll right now, Kahn is pulled aside by his friend Barir. He telle Kahn in private that he is looking to leave Badra’s employee and his new patron is also interested in the Scroll.
The group finishes the afternoon trying to figure out how word of the Scroll has leaked out and selling stuff in the market. They return to Rayhan’s, in the late afternoon, to discover yet another merchant waiting for them. He introduces himself as Marzuk, the main negotiator for the Mus’ad merchant family. With the biding for the Scroll up to 55,000gp (Marzuk’s starting offer) the group is left to figure out what they are going to do. They have a talk with Rayhan and he suggests that the best thing to do, now that word about the Scroll has gotten out, is to host a dinner party and invite all the people who want to bid on the Scroll to come over. This lets all the bidders see each other and make their offers and keeps the Pactmasters from getting nervous about merchants going crazy and doing stupid things to try to get the Scroll.
The group agrees to this and Rayhan’s man, Eramin, starts drafting up invites for everyone. With all the interest in the Scroll they decide that it will be much better if they are all together, so they head over to the Roveshki manor to gather Duran and Sahlira’s gear. They decide that they want to take Cloud Cutter with them, over to Rayhan’s, so they all climb aboard Cloud Cutter and Fiora casts Invisibility Sphere on them so they can get back to Rayhan’s without being seen. As they leave they notice that there is a gnoll that is watching the Roveshki manor and they discover that it is one of Spider’s crew. They decide to leave the gnoll alone for now and head over to Rayhan’s. Duran, Sahlira and Kahn head over Badra’s to talk with Kahn’s friend, Barir, and see if they believe that he is planning to leave Badra and has a new patron. Barir seems sincere and they leave to head back to Rayhan’s. While they are gone a messenger arrives with a message for Duran and leaves it with Shurooq.
When the rest of the group returns, Shurooq gives the message to Duran. The message is from Duran’s old love interest, Farah, and is asking him to meet her behind the Marble Sphinx that evening. Duran decides to go meet with her and Sahlira goes with him while the rest of the group stays at Rayhan’s and relaxes. Duran and Sahlira get to the meeting and find Farah already waiting for them. Sahlira stays hidden and Duran goes to talk with Farah. Farah is wearing a mask that makes her face appear to be made of stone and is apparently the “Stone Lady” that has been looking for Duran. After a brief talk, Farah attacks Duran and calls for her help. Two thugs come out of hiding but Sahlira had already seen one of them so, is able to intercept him. The fight is brief and Farah proves to be no match for Duran. Duran ends up taking Farah captive and they take her back to Rayhan’s.
What will the group do with Farah now? How will the dinner party with the merchants go? Will they be able to find Spider before he is able to figure out where they have taken Cloud Cutter?
