Continuing up the stairs the group finds a long hall that they find is guarded by a group of Fire Elementals. The elementals appear to be guarding the room at the end of the hall and tells the party that the treasure is theirs. The group fights them for a short time and then thinks that maybe they don’t need to fight these elementals. As they back up to ponder the situation, Kahn has a feeling that whatever is down the hallway is something they need to discover. The group decides to go back and deal with the fanatical elementals. With a quick opening salvo from Fiora, the elementals are quickly defeated and the group heads down the hall to find out what the elementals were so possessive of.
In the next room they find a large fountain filled with clear, cool water. While they are trying to figure out why there is a fountain in a palace in The City of Brass, a Marid rises out of the water. She introduces herself as Shazathared, a Marid princess that was captured by Jhavhul centuries ago and held here to tell stories. With Jhavhul’s fascination with Ymeri, he lost interest in Shazathared and she is trapped here. The group promises to release her and she tells Duran that in thanks for their promise and kindness, that she will bestow her yearly Wish on him. Duran thanks her and says he will have to think about what he will use the Wish for. They rest in the room and recover while Shurooq trades stories with Shazathared.
Rested, they head back thru the treasure rooms to the magma pool. With the help of the Azers that they passed on the way to Shazathared, they find that there is a boat that travels the magma river to the rest of the palace. They follow it and start discovering that Bayt al-Bazan is now filled with factions that have come into the palace in search of treasure and been trapped in a curse that surrounds the entire place. The first faction they come across is a group of lizardfolk that attack the group on sight. The party quickly takes care of the priest that leads this group and the rest of the lizardfolk.
Traversing the maze that is the palace the party finds their way to a level that appears to be controlled by a group of fire giants. With the help of their Nessian Warhounds, the Fire Giants attack the group with much the same luck as the lizardfolk. In one of the chambers, the party finds a Fire Giant with broken legs, trapped. They offer to help this giant out and apparently he was dealing with one of the factions and the head of the Fire Giants took offense at this. They broke his legs and trapped him in this room to die. He introduces himself as Gilbans and offers to help out the party if they free him.
The party finds what was a bath house for the Efreets, a pool of liquid living Brass. As they look around they see a huge Red Dragon on another building out the window. As they haven’t seen much of the city to this point they aren’t sure if this in normal or something specific to this palace. After finding a small tower with a balcony they find out that the dragon is watching Bayt al-Bazan for some reason. They notice the dragon watching them and they wave and it raises a claw at them stays where it is. They do discover that whatever curse is holding them in the palace won’t allow them more then 50’ away from the structure.
As the group goes to investigate more of the level, Gilbans tells them that there is another faction close by that is led by what he describes as a Sepid Div. In one of the other rooms is a spirit that protects the room it is in and the giants have just left it alone. While they are thinking about this info, the Garundi man’s face appears in one of the walls and tells them about a spirit that was the chief eunuch. They contemplate this info while they plan their next move.
Where will the group go from here? What other faction will they have to deal with? Who is the Garundi man that keeps giving them information?
