The island the party appears on turns out to be Khandelwal, the desert island that they wanted to reach. Before they can collect themselves and figure out where to look for the Shaitan’s, a Nexian Galley starts to approach the dock they are standing on. The group decides to wait for it to arrive and discover it is being controlled by a very well dressed woman with 4 janni Eunuch guards. After a brief discussion, the group decides to join the well dressed woman, Neshari, and board her boat to meet Neshari’s mistress, Dilix Mahad.
The boat takes them to the island of Kakishon, and the Pleasure Palace of Nex. When they get there they find that the Please Palace has seen better days. It looks like much of it is destroyed. They are taken to a section of the palace that is still intact and meet with Dilix Mahad. Dilix, a Shaitan herself, has a feast in the party’s honor and talks to them for a while. She is able to tell the group about Jhavhul that they weren’t aware of like that he plans on trying to awaken the greater spawn of Rovagug, Xotani the Firebleeder. The weird thing is he isn’t doing this for Rovagug, but for Ymeri, the Queen of the Inferno. Apparently Jhavhul is trying to impress a god.
They tell Dilix that they have a way out of Kakishon, the Ruby Tuning Fork, but they need an elemental seed to use it. Dilix tells them that Obherak, the leader of the Shaitan’s that the Protean’s sent the group to kill, has the Earth Seed in his stronghold and would be the easier of the 4 to get to. They tell her that they will try to get Obherak to agree to let them use the Earth Seed for them to escape Kakishon and the Protean’s and anyone else willing to leave. She agrees to help them out and gives Shurooq her Bracelet of Friends, so that they can summon her to help if needed.
Dilix advises that the party should visit Artel the Smith and check out the Island of the Dead as that was where Andrathi met his fate and it is rumored that his spirit still is there. The group heads to Khosravi to see Artel the Smith first. They find that Khosravi is a barren and blasted landscape with only 2 prominent features, a huge Black Spire of rock and an active Volcano. Since they were told that Artel was in the volcano they head there first.
The find Artel Norrin, hard at work at his Fire Forge in the heart of the volcano. After some talking Artel tells them he can probably help them with weapons if they get him some crystals from the top of the Black Spire they passed by on the way to see him. They reluctantly agree and head to the Black Spire to collect these crystals. They find that the Black Spire is the battle site of a fight between Nex and a creature called the Eater of Magic, a huge draconic creature that absorbed all magic. Apparently Nex dropped the Black Spire on the Eater of Magic, killing it and creating a zone of non-magic. The party decides to use Cloud Cutter to fly over the spire and repel onto the top of it via ropes. They have no problems getting the crystals and Fiora gets a bit of target practice at the Ghast that ran up from the bottom while they were collecting the crystals.
They return to Artel and give him the crystals and he lets them take any of the armor and weapons form the other room and hands Sahlira, Zenzirad. Zenzirad is a +1 fire outsider bane frost starknife that Artel had built specifically for killing Jhavhul. Artel also gives them 12 vials of Ebon Flame, an invention of Artel’s. His only request is to tell Jhavhul that Zenzirad is from him when they kill him. From here the group decides to investigate the Island of the Dead and see if they can find Andrathi’s spirit.
They arrive at the Island of the Dead and decide to explore a strange structure on the west side of the island. This structure has 4 pillars and a platform with a slowly rippling sphere of blue water, floating above it. As they get near the pillars, the northern one erupts with a vortex of wind and forms into a huge Air Elemental that proceeds to attack the party. After dispatching the Air Elemental an Earth Elemental forms from the 2nd pillar and attacks. This goes on with a Fire Elemental coming out of the 3rd pillar and finally a Water Elemental from the southern most pillar. During the fight with the elementals, Sahlira is wounded a few times and ends up being killed (2 Fate Points less) by the Water Elemental, shortly before it is destroyed.
Shurooq approaches the sphere of water that is so well guarded and discovers that it is the Well of Tears and contains the lost spirits that can provide advise and knowledge at the price of being potentially overwhelmed by the longing, sadness, and loss these ancient memories carry. Shurooq is able to withstand contact with the Well of Tears and finds out that to get to Andrathi’s spirit they need to speak the word Truthfully at the mausoleum’s doors. They proceed to the mausoleum and encounter a being composed of all 4 elements that asks them what they seek. The groups says the word “Truthfully” and the creature disappears leaving the entrance to the mausoleum open to them.
What will they find inside the mausoleum? Andrathi’s spirit? Will it be friendly to them? What will happen when they seek out Obherak? A simple diplomatic negotiation or a more physical negotiation?
