As the group catches their breath from the battle with the shaitans a voice rises from below. Obherak calls to the group to find out why they have invaded his home. After some quick diplomatic discussion, Obherak agrees to meet with the Proteans if it will get all of them out of Kakishon. The party teleports to the Isle of Not to convince the Proteans to leave Kakishon using their escape route.
They meet with Lahapraset and the other Proteans and they come to an agreement to meet with the shaitans to leave Kakishon. They make an arrangement to signal the Proteans to meet at the docks for Khandelwal after they have gathered everyone that wants to leave Kakishon. The party than has the Proteans send them to the isle of Kakishon so that they can get Dilix.
After a brief discussion with Dilix they head for the docks to get a boat and sail to Khandelwal. They give the signal to the the Proteans and head to the golden bowl to meet with the shaitans. Obherak meets them on the surface and after a tense discussion, they all head down into the shaitans lair and use the ruby tuning fork on the Earth Seed. They all experience the swirling vortex but something seems off. As warm as Katapesh is, the other end of the vortex seems warmer.
The vortex fades out and they find themselves somewhere they have never seen before. The room is constructed of Brass and there are walls of fire in all the portals from the room. It also looks like they are in some sort of treasure vault that was been cleaned out. Where are they? The Scroll of Kakishon is in between the party members but as they watch it quickly starts to burn and disintegrate. Apparently they won’t be going back to Kakishon any time soon.
After they investigate further they figure out that the walls are not made of Brass but are made of Living Brass. The only place that has Living Brass is the legendary City of Brass in the Elemental plane of Fire. Their seems to be some sort of combination that allows safe passage from this area. They quickly rule out doors with a 3 after Sahlira goes thru one and ends up teleporting over a river of lava. After some quick thinking, the party is able to rescue her from being sucked into the lava whirlpool. They still have the rooms to figure out but not before they are attacked by Brass Men. During the fight Sahlira is almost killed (saved only by Hero points) but the group is able to defeat the Brass Men.
During the exploration of the vaults, they see a vision in one of the walls of a wild-eyed Garundi man with long white hair. He tells them that he is trapped in this place as well and if they help each other they can all escape this palace. After figuring out the combination of 4-2-1 for the doorways, they are able to start exploring the vaults. With a lot of investigation they are finally able to get thru the vaults and into more of the basements of what they have determined to be Bayt al-Bazan, Jhavhul’s home.
As they explore this new area they find a group of azers that they have a nice talk with. They are able to confirm that they are indeed in Bayt al-Bazan. The azers tell them that they came in here seeking treasure and were stuck in this place with everyone else. They want out but are scared and unwilling to leave the area they are in. The group keeps going and finds a set of stairs going up with a pit in the center of the stairway. Before heading up they check the pit and drop a coin with Light on it but the light goes out after only 5 feet and shortly after disappearing it hits something and bounces around for a few seconds before coming to rest. As the party considers what to do the resident of the pit surges up and attacks. The horror before them is know as a Get of Iblis and proves to be a tough opponent but not one they are unable to defeat.
What do the stairs lead to? Who is the strange Garnudi man? What will they find in the rest of Bayt al-Bazan?
